Malia was a mentor to me when I began volunteering my time at Greenbelt Access TV in the Fall of 2015. I had completed one semester of a Media Production course at community college, and I wanted to keep what I learned, fresh. She asked what my aspirations were, and then helped guide me to meet those goals. I showed up for crew calls whenever she asked me, and we shot a lot of festivals, local, political and community events together since then. She is an incredibly creative, patient, engaging and fun teacher, who knows how to get the end result out of you quickly. She is tireless and fearless, as well. She gives all to her work. I have the pleasure of knowing Malia Murray for over 20 years on a professional and personal level. She is an intelligent self-starter and applies great initiative to all aspects of her life. She is talented in video production, editing, photography, layout, promotion and more. When she worked with me as an assistant for Greenbelt Municipal Access, she was the kind of employee that provided solutions to problems. She is creative and is always able to contribute ideas and projects to work on.
Her accomplishments and experience led her to become the director for Greenbelt Access Television for many years. Since both channels cooperate together on many occasions, I was able to continue my relationship with her throughout her tenure there. As Director of Greenbelt Municipal Access, she oversaw the entire operation of the channel, created a training program, a membership program, oversaw numerous interns, worked with the Board of Directors, and initiated many new programs.
It was a pleasure to work with Malia in conjunction with Greenbelt Municipal Access. She is definitely the kind of person that you would want working on your team as she knows how to get things done.
